Oil and gas companies have an important role to play in supporting communities living around their operations. At the same time, oil and gas activities can have environmental and social impacts on surrounding areas, making responsible practices, environmental safeguards, meaningful CSR and regular engagement with local communities important.
Sindh Green Foundation – SGF contributed to two dialogues organized by The Knowledge Forum in Sanghar, helping connect relevant community members, activists, civil society representatives, legal professionals and other stakeholders.
The first dialogue focused on communities living around oil and gas operation areas, providing local people an opportunity to share their experiences, concerns and expectations related to community development, basic services, employment and livelihoods, education and skills, environmental concerns, and CSR initiatives.
The second dialogue brought together activists, civil society representatives, legal professionals and other stakeholders to discuss the role and responsibilities of oil and gas companies, CSR practices, transparency, accountability, environmental responsibility and meaningful engagement with surrounding communities.
The dialogues provided a space for open discussion, shared concerns and constructive engagement around how oil and gas companies and other stakeholders can better respond to the needs of surrounding communities while promoting responsible and sustainable development in Sanghar.
